New Killers Added

SerialKillers.ca has added a couple new Canadian killers to our database and they are Luka Rocco Magnotta (not a serial killer but a very interesting and gory episode) and Shawn Cameron Lamb . Lamb was just charged with three counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of three women and is still under investigation for any possible connection to other outstanding murders.

As always we like to hear from our readers and if you have any information on these killers or would like to help us create the articles – feel free to contact us!

The Horror Started 30 Years Ago. The Tour Starts This Summer

Seattle – On July 15, 1982 two boys discovered the body of Wendy Coffield floating face down in the Green River in Kent, Washington. The Green River Killer case had begun and Coffields would be the first of over fifty young women found murdered in the northwest over the next two decades.

Gary Ridgway (The Green River Killer) would plead guilty to 48 murders in 2003 and another in 2010. He is the most prolific serial killer in our nations history and will live out the remainder of his life in Walla Walla State Penitentiary.

In marking 30 years since the twisted tale began, Notorious Tours of Seattle will begin ‘The Green River Killer Tour’ on July 14, 2012. Anyone interested in true crime, local history or just a new and interesting way to spend a Saturday night should take this tour.

The tour is an eery three hour bus ride leaving Downtown Seattle at 9PM and returning at midnight. We will visit many of the sites made infamous by the Green River Killer in the south Puget Sound area while discussing Ridgway, the case and of course the lives and deaths of many of his victims. This tour will always be respectful, but pulls no punches.

The tour will run July 14 and 28 and maybe extended through August. Notorious Tours will donate a portion of the profits to a local charity for young people living on the street.

Robert Pickton Prosecution Costs

Today has come news that the Robert Pickton prosecution has cost some $103 million and is still rising. Canada’s most prolific serial killer has also accounted for one of the most expensive trials in Canadian history – ranking right up there with the Air India trials and public hearings. And that is where the Pickton costs are still coming in.

Serial killer Robert Pickton is now serving life in prison and that too will of course cost taxpayers even more money. But still to be tabulated is the cost for the public inquiry which will be funded by the province of British Columbia. The public inquiry will delve into the whole affair including the police department’s handling of the case and all those missing women over so many years.

Pickton’s legal defence team cost taxpayers $12 million and the crown’s costs came in at around $9 million more. The bulk of the money was spent sorting through the vast Pickton farm for evidence of his crimes and the surrounding police investigation costs. Some of the money was recouped through the sale of Pickton’s assets. Robert Pickton attempted to appeal his six life sentences but was denied by the courts.
